discusses the awards, grants
and scholarships available to
the members of AAACN.

The American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing (AAACN) scholarships and awards are funded through the Silent Auction held at the annual conference, and through private donations.

Scholarships and awards are presented at the annual conference to nurses who have been members of AAACN for a minimum of two continuous years at the time of the application.

Students applying for the Nursing Student Conference Scholarship do not need to be a member of AAACN but must be recommended by a AAACN member. All applicants will be notified of the decision of the Nominating Committee once the scholarship/award recipients are determined.

The American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing (AAACN) supports the advancement of ambulatory nurses and nursing practice through the provision of excellence, scholarship, and/or research awards to qualified applicants.

Additional Information about Scholarships and Awards

The Scholarship / Research Fund is held in an interest bearing account at a financial institution approved by the Board of Directors of AAACN. Personal or corporate donations may be made specifically to this fund. The fund principle must remain at a minimum of $20,000.

This fund will be managed by the investment advisor under the direction of the Executive Director and the Treasurer of AAACN, to pursue growth consistent with capital preservation.

All revenues received from fund raising activities (e.g. Silent Auction) and/or donations designated for the fund will be added to the principal of the fund. The maximum monies awarded each year will be determined by the amount of donations and interest received in the previous fiscal year.

The board will determine the amount of funds allocated in those years when there are little to no donations. The board will inform the Nominating Committee of the amount of funds available annually and the Nominating Committee will be responsible for determining the award recipients and the amount of each award.

Scholarship and/or Research Awards are reviewed and granted annually at the annual conference.

Awards are granted to individual members of AAACN and are given in incremental amounts ranging from $100 to $1000 per award and not to exceed the funds available for an award.

Before applying for an award and/or scholarship, read about AAACN's Approval and Procedure.
