Deadline: Call for Nursing Economic$ Manuscripts

Event Date(s):
Friday, July 10, 2020

Call runs between March 11 through July 10, 2020, 11:59pm US Eastern.

The World Health Organization has declared 2020 the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife in honor of the 200th anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth. The beginning of modern nursing as trained professionals has stood the test of time as an enduring legacy of caring, competence, and value.

What would healthcare look like if we could not educate, recruit, and retain enough nurses to care for patients? If there were no nurses, how would their absence affect the healthcare system? To explore and help answer this provocative question, Nursing Economic$ is seeking manuscripts for its Special Issue: A World without Registered Nurses.

This call for manuscripts is seeking authors to provide valuable insights, experiences, and solutions in demonstrating the “business case for nursing care providers” in healthcare practice, education, research, and policy. Suggested areas authors might consider for the special issue include:

  • RNs as trusted care providers pivotal to access to high-quality, person-centered care in multiple healthcare settings and communities
  • RNs as integral to interprofessional provider teams
  • RNs as person-centered care coordinators and transition managers, especially for persons with multiple chronic conditions
  • RNs providing surveillance and support for chronically ill persons and their caregivers
  • RNs changing health care through innovation and Big Data analysis
  • RNs providing evidence-based population health management
  • RNs as primary care providers
  • Impact of nurse midwives on maternal health and the health and survival of infants, especially in underserved areas and populations
